Operations Manager Trainee

The Operations Manager Trainee will provide assistance to the overall Operation of the business by supporting the Branch and Business Office efforts in the management of facilities, maintenance, sales deals, rental, and trucking. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facility, Inventory & Trucking Management
    • Ensures Safety, DOT and other industry regulation compliance
    • Primary responsibility for equipment cost control, inventory, and maintenance management
    • Manages and reconciles all equipment inventories including out-bound and in-bound gate activity.
    • Ensures dispatch and equipment delivery route efficiency through appropriate interaction with branch personnel and route analysis
    • Assists with the maintenance of accurate records and analyzes statistical data to assist in development of plans to increase productivity and reduce or maintain costs.
    • Assists with answering phones, responding to faxes and other communications as needed.
    • Daily administrative paperwork (branch invoices, etc.); limited accounting, and reporting.
    • Responsible for ordering equipment, parts and supplies from vendors.
  • Rental, Sales & Deal Management
    • Maintains and provides quality customer service and good communications with customers and vendors.
    • Eliminate barriers and create solutions for customers.
    • Manage and coordinate all sales deals between Staff, Customers, Business Office, and Branch Operations Department.
    • Assist in the administration, supervision, and facilitation of all activities involved in equipment sales and rental transactions.
    • Manage the flow of all rental and sale paperwork from the Branch to Business Office.
    • Assist Sales Representatives  by creating sales solutions to customer problems and win business
    • Assist in the development of the Sales Representatives’ sales techniques and skill levels to improve their closing efficiencies
  • People Management
    • Communicate plans, status, and issues to higher levels of management
    • Assists management exceed goals and expectations in support of the Company’s policies and management objectives.
    • Assists with the selection, training, scheduling, motivation, and evaluation of staff.
    • Assists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Performs all the management/supervisory activities in absence of the Operations Manager.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability of leadership, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Good business acumen, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, and handle multiple projects and pressure.
  • High sense of urgency/motivation and accountability.
  • Ability to enter data into and navigate our web-based Quickbase database applications.
  • Strong computer skills with an advanced level of competency with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to manage customer and vendor expectations
  • Strong cost analysis, problem solving, and contract negotiating skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels
  • Strong work ethic with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Well organized and detailed with the ability to prioritize and problem solve.

 

Education/Experience Required:

  • 4 year degree
  • 1-2 years operations experience, preferably in the trucking and/or transportation industry.
  • Will train highly motivated college graduates.

  • Base pay + monthly bonus + yearly bonus program (total compensation range 35k-45k +)
